Careers
Build aerospace parts on machines that are younger than your career.
ESM has grown from about twenty people to roughly 150 in six years. The machines are new, the parts are demanding and the quality system is real — which makes this a good place to learn aerospace manufacturing properly, rather than to learn the habits you will later have to unlearn.
Working here
What the job actually involves
Aerospace machining is unforgiving in a specific way: the tolerance is written down, the process is written down, and the record of what you did follows the part for years. That discipline is the job. It is also what makes the skill transferable to any aerospace plant in the world.
ESM works to EN 9100 and ISO 9001. In practice that means you work to a control plan rather than to habit, you sign what you inspected, and a non-conformity is analysed instead of argued about. People who have worked in general mechanics describe the change as the biggest single step in their career.
We work with Tunisian engineering schools with aeronautical programmes, and we recruit early in people's careers on the assumption that they will still be here in five years. So far, they have been.
What you gain here
The return on the job is industrial, and it is portable
Real aerospace practice
FAI to AS/EN 9102, 8D, QRQC, control plans, concession records, FOD discipline, customer and certification audits. Not the vocabulary — the practice, on parts that fly.
Machines you will meet again
DMG MORI three, four and five-axis centres bought new between 2020 and 2026, high-speed spindles to 24 000 rpm, 80 bar through-spindle coolant, Renishaw and Heidenhain probing on every machine.
The whole route, not one station
Material, machining, fitting, assembly, inspection, documentation and dispatch happen on one site. You see what your decision does two operations later, the same week.
A digital chain that is used
CATIA and Siemens NX in CAD, Mastercam in CAM, Odoo Enterprise for ERP, MRP and PLM. Routings, load, traceability and engineering changes live in the system, not in a spreadsheet.
Written authorisation, not hearsay
Fitting and inspection are performed by individually authorised operators. Your competence is recorded, assessed and recognised — a document you keep for the rest of your career.
Room, because the company is still growing
A company that has gone from twenty to 150 people creates positions faster than it fills them. Shift leader, programmer, industrialisation engineer, inspector: most were filled from inside.
Competence management
Nobody is left to pick it up by watching
EN 9100 requires an organisation to determine the competence it needs, provide it, and check that what it provided worked. ESM runs that literally, and the records are what a customer auditor asks for first.
| Instrument | What it is used for |
|---|---|
| Annual training plan | Built per function from the gap between the versatility matrix and the load forecast, not from a catalogue. |
| Versatility matrix | Who can run which workstation, at which level. It drives the shift plan and shows where the company is one person deep. |
| Individual authorisations | Written, named authorisations for fitting operations and for inspection. Unauthorised, you do not sign the operation. |
| Effectiveness evaluation | After training, an assessment of whether the competence is actually there. Attendance is not competence. |
| Product safety and awareness | EN 9100 §8.1.3 and §7.3: everyone is briefed on their contribution to product safety and on ethical behaviour, and it is recorded. |
| School partnerships | Placements and final-year projects with Tunisian engineering schools and technology institutes, every year. |
Where we recruit
Functions
Production
CNC setters and operators on 3, 4 and 5-axis centres, aerospace fitters, shift leaders. About 70 people.
Engineering and methods
CAM programmers, industrialisation and NPI engineers, estimating, tooling and fixture design, continuous improvement. About 20 people.
Quality
System quality, product quality and floating inspection, FAI, customer quality and supplier quality. More than 15 people.
Fitting and assembly
Deburring, finishing, riveting, Hi-Lok and Hi-Lite installation, sub-assembly. About 12 authorised operators.
Supply chain
Planning, purchasing, supplier development, stores, packing and handling. More than 10 people.
Maintenance and support
Machine maintenance on a modern, single-brand-dominant park, plus finance, management control, human resources and IT.
Students and new graduates
Start with a placement
ESM takes engineering and technician students every year, on final-year projects, summer placements and work-study contracts. The subject is a real one, the tutor is the person who owns the process, and the deliverable is used.
Open positions
Current vacancies are published on our recruitment page. If nothing matches but you think you belong here, write to us anyway — tell us which machine or which process you want to be working on in three years.
