Aerospace machining is first of all a matter of skilled people. Since 2024 ESM has been working with the Centre militaire de formation professionnelle de Fondouk Jedid, which trains young technicians in mechanical manufacturing up to the professional technician certificate (brevet de technicien professionnel).
A partnership, step by step
- May 2024: discovering the shop floor. On 15 May 2024 we welcomed about ten mechanical-manufacturing trainees and their instructors at our plant in Ben Arous, for a visit of our machining shop.
- Summer 2024: a framework for the partnership. The centre and ESM worked on a partnership agreement covering internships and the integration of graduates into our teams.
- January 2025: recruiting graduates. The centre sent us the list of its graduates in mechanical manufacturing, and we interviewed several of them for positions in our shop.
- 2025: training the trainers. The centre asked to send four of its mechanical-manufacturing instructors to ESM for in-company training, so that what is taught matches the reality of aerospace production. We welcomed the request.
For a company like ESM, these partnerships are how we grow our teams in Tunisia: by opening the shop floor to young people early, and by recruiting the best of them.
