Machining Team Leader

BEN AROUS, Tunisia

Machining team leader — 3, 4 and 5-axis CNC milling

You lead a team of setters and operators on DMG MORI 3, 4 and 5-axis machining centres. During your shift, you answer for safety, quality, delivery and people.

What you will do

  • Organise the shift from the production schedule: assignment of people according to the versatility matrix, priorities, launches and changeovers.
  • Lead the start-of-shift meeting and the daily QRQC at the SQCDP board, solve problems at the right level and escalate within the defined times.
  • Monitor the team’s performance: progress of manufacturing orders, OEE, scrap and rework, and trigger corrective actions.
  • Enforce self-inspection, the control plan, traceability and FOD rules; stop production when quality or safety is at risk.
  • React to disruptions with maintenance, methods, quality and logistics: breakdowns, non-conformities, shortages of material or tools.
  • Manage the team: induction and training of newcomers, follow-up of authorisations, attendance and leave, appraisals, handling of tensions and conflicts.
  • Ensure the handover between shifts and report to the production manager.
  • Drive continuous improvement on the shop floor: 5S, shorter setup times and 8D problem solving.

What we look for

  • BTS, applied licence or engineering degree in mechanical manufacturing or mechanical engineering.
  • Five years or more of experience in CNC machining, including at least two years leading a production team.
  • Solid technical grounding in 3, 4 and 5-axis milling: setup, drawing reading, ISO tolerancing, cutting tools and shop-floor metrology.
  • Practice of management and improvement tools: QRQC, 8D, 5S and SQCDP indicators; use of an ERP.
  • Leadership, leading by example and listening: you can run a meeting, give a clear instruction, set limits and defuse a conflict.
  • Able to decide under time pressure without compromising on quality or safety.
  • Knowledge of aerospace requirements (EN 9100, FAI, traceability) is an asset. Availability for three-shift work.

What ESM offers

  • A park of 15 machining centres bought new, and a three-shift organisation backed by a weekend team.
  • Visual management already in place: daily QRQC, SQCDP boards, a versatility matrix and an annual training plan.
  • A company that has grown from about 20 to roughly 150 people, where today’s shift leaders were promoted from inside.
