CNC setter — 3, 4 and 5-axis machining centres
You bring aluminium aerospace parts into production on DMG MORI machining centres: fixture, tools, datums and a first conforming part, then you hand over to the operators and support them through the run.
What you will do
- Prepare each changeover from the manufacturing file: routing, drawing, program, setup sheet and tool list.
- Mount and set fixtures and tools, set the datums with the probe and load the programs.
- Run the first part safely, measure it, and correct tool offsets and work offsets until the part conforms, then have it validated.
- Support operators during the run: dimensional drift, tool wear, machine alarms and rework.
- Feed back improvements to programs, fixtures or cutting conditions to methods and to the CAM programmers.
- Reduce changeover times and keep the setup sheets up to date.
- Raise any non-conformity, take part in 8D and QRQC analyses, and enforce 5S and FOD rules around the machines.
What we look for
- BTS or applied licence (Bac+2 or Bac+3) in mechanical manufacturing or mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Three years or more of experience setting CNC milling centres, including 5-axis work.
- Reading of technical drawings and ISO tolerancing; able to read and edit ISO-code programs at the machine.
- Hands-on experience of at least one CNC control (Heidenhain, Siemens or Fanuc); Heidenhain is an advantage.
- Good knowledge of cutting tools and cutting conditions for aluminium, and command of measuring instruments.
- Autonomy, method and teaching skills: you pass your setups on to the operators. Availability for three-shift work.
What ESM offers
- A park of 15 machining centres bought new, eight of them 5-axis, with high-speed spindles and probing on every machine.
- Direct work with methods and CAM programmers, on aerostructure and aircraft equipment parts.
- A company where shift leaders and programmers were promoted from inside.
