Quality Inspector (Product Inspection)

BEN AROUS, Tunesien

Quality inspector — dimensional inspection and FAI

You inspect machined aluminium aerospace parts, in process and before release, and you decide on recorded measurements: conforming or non-conforming.

What you will do

  • Carry out in-process and final dimensional and visual inspections, against the drawing, the routing and the control plan.
  • Measure with the laboratory’s equipment: calipers, micrometers, height gauge, bore gauges, dial indicators and a 3D measuring arm.
  • Perform first article inspections and build FAI files to AS/EN 9102.
  • Record results, identify and segregate non-conforming parts, raise non-conformity reports and take part in 8D and QRQC analyses.
  • Inspect incoming material and parts returning from external processing before they re-enter the flow.
  • Check the calibration validity of the instruments you use and follow the laboratory’s FOD rules.

What we look for

  • BTS or applied licence in mechanical engineering, mechanical manufacturing, metrology or quality.
  • One to three years of experience inspecting machined parts; beginners with a solid grounding in metrology are considered.
  • Reading of technical drawings and ISO tolerancing, including geometric tolerances.
  • Command of conventional measuring instruments; experience of a 3D measuring arm or a CMM is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of EN 9100 and FAI is an asset. Training in our methods is provided.
  • Rigour, a keen eye and integrity: you sign what you have measured. Availability for shift work, as the shop runs three shifts.

What ESM offers

  • An inspection laboratory at the heart of the shop floor, with calibrated instruments and a 3D measuring arm.
  • A written, named inspection authorisation, issued after assessed training.
  • Possible moves towards FAI, product quality, customer quality or supplier quality.
